I’ll just quote Wikipedia for a summary of his biography.
Bob Moran is a British cartoonist whose work has been published in many publications including, Morning Star, The Guardian and The Telegraph and more recently The Conservative Woman. On 12 October 2017, he was awarded the Cartoon Art Trust Award for Political Cartooning. He was sacked from The Telegraph in October 2021.
Previously, I said that Scott Adams is my favourite cartoonist, which is why I invited him onto my podcast a few years ago.
But he has been knocked out of the top spot by Bob Moran.
Will the real cartoonists please stand up
The Covid era has changed a lot of things for me, one of those things being the political cartoons I read, the number of which has declined to nearly zero. For reasons that are a mystery to me, most of my colleagues became pro-establishment hacks with balls resembling a vagina. They do little more than perpetuating politically correct narratives.
It’s very strange.
As Bob said in his conversation with me, cartoonists who remained true to the anti-establishment irreverence required of the court jester, can be counted on one hand. For example, here in South Africa, I can think of, maybe, one other cartoonist who gave a middle finger to the jab.
I began following Bob’s work after hearing that he was fired, and what a blessing it has been.

Our conversation
Bob joined me for a chat about
- his background and work ethic;
- maturing from liberalism to conservatism;
- questioning everything, including Michelle Obama’s gender;
- what topics he avoids;
- waking up happy and with purpose;
- whether or not dinosaurs are real;
- people thinking that he’s a grey old man; and
- where society is heading.
