Gavin McInnes is the co-founderof VICE magazine and Proud Boys.
He is colloquially known as the “godfather of hipsters”.
VICE was once a great counter-culture magazine, with interesting stories on various aspects of society. It was like the anti-establishment punk rocker of the magazine world.
Now, however, it’s a postmodern, politically correct cesspit.
In fact, it’s so woke that it’s broke.
Who is Gavin?
Gavin is a prominent figure in ‘conservative and right-wing‘ circles, known for his ‘controversial’ and often provocative statements, expressing views that are brilliantly critical of feminism, political correctness and multiculturalism and has also been associated with the ‘alt-right’ movement (whatever that is).
I still have no idea what is meant by either ‘alt-right’ or ‘far right’.
Proud Boys
Proud Boys is a solely male group in North America.
Its leaders have faced convictions for opposing the US government and have been described as a ‘street gang’, even labelled a terrorist organisation in Canada and New Zealand.
They oppose ‘left-wing’ and ‘progressive’ movements.
As a political commentator, Gavin has contributed to various media outlets including FOX News and Rebel Media and hosts his own talk show called Get Off My Lawn.
Culture wars
Culture wars refer to a conflict or debate between different groups within a society over values, beliefs, and cultural practices.
These conflicts typically arise when there are ideological differences and disagreements on issues such as
- religion,
- morality,
- social norms,
- politics,
- gender roles,
- sexuality, and more.
Such wars can manifest in various ways, including political debates, media campaigns, protests, legal battles, and social movements.
Culture wars, while real, are very divisive.
They mostly involve clashes between traditional and progressive outlooks.
The term ‘culture wars’ gained prominence in the United States in the late 20th century, particularly during the 1980s and 1990s. It was used to describe the heightened polarisation and contentiousness surrounding issues such as abortion, gay rights, censorship, religious freedom, and education.
Let me be clear: progressivism is postmodern nonsense.
Men can not be women.
Gender is not fluid.
We know what a woman is.
Objective truth is a thing.
Culture is upstream from everything. Put another way, culture is more important than politics because it’s about identity and community. Culture is a critical part of what defines us, while politics is about how we engage with one another.
Here’s my conversation with Gavin.
