It’s difficult to come up with an opening paragraph about John McAfee, so I’ll just copy and paste the Wikipedia entry.
John David McAfee was a British-American computer programmer, businessman, and two-time presidential candidate who unsuccessfully sought the Libertarian Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020.
A real punk rocker
Everything about John is anti-establishment, making him an outstanding individual. I particularly appreciate his motivations behind the development of McAfee Antivirus, which grew out of a sense of paranoia (and conspiracy theories). In other words, he was worried that nefarious types might attempt to “infect” computers with harmful code, which is precisely what happened, vindicating the necessity for antivirus software.

Which, eventually, he sold for a lot of money and followed that up by living a rockstar lifestyle filled with sex, drugs, and rock ‘n rolling joints.
From having his own drug lab in a jungle in Central America; to marrying a prostitute whom he met on the Mexican border; to being wanted for murder; to running for American president; John is indeed a colourful character.
Our conversation
John joined me for two short – but separate – conversations between 2020 and 2021. For simplicity, I merged them into a single video.
