Rodney Atkinson is a British academic, author, and businessman, and is Rowan Atkinson’s brother.
He runs freenations.net, a website founded in the 90s and focused on what it means for nations to be free, including critiques of
- liberalism and liberal policies;
- the European Union;
- mass immigration;
- climate change alarmism;
- Ukraine and Russia;
- NATO and the West; and
- corporate partnerships with the state.
conservative values
In order to understand what conservatism is, one needs to understand what conservatism is not, and Rodney does this very well. Stefan Molyneux and Gavin McInnes do this very well too.
A good book to read is Economics In One Lesson, by Henry Hazlitt, in which he makes a case for capitalism and the free market, and exposes economic myths perpetuated by the political left, governments, and corporate media.
Our conversation
Rodney’s conversation with me was informative. I especially liked his differentiation between “public” and “the state”, as well as his differentiation between “private” and “corporate”. For example, Google is a corporation in bed with the state, resulting in a crude violation of “private business”. The same applies to Facebook, Microsoft, and Big Tech in general; they are representations of “corporate” rather than “private”, ultimately favouring centralised, state-sanctioned control over the markets and individuals’ freedoms.
