In Spencer Smith’s work, the ‘Third Adam’ is a term used to describe a sequence of spiritual and societal shifts that pave the way for the emergence of the Antichrist, serving as a conceptual framework.

This framework encompasses elements such as:

  • Eastern religions,
  • the modern occult,
  • entertainment industry, and
  • false Christianity,

Spencer argues that Satan will introduce the Antichrist through various societal layers. He says that Satan’s tactics are imitation and infiltration, through mimicking God’s actions and infiltrating religious groups.

The core of his idea is that modern Christianity’s non-judgemental and diluted approach blinds people to these deceptions.

Eastern religions

Spencer proposes that Eastern religions like Buddhism, Hinduism, and Yoga are foundational layers in Satan’s plan. He views these practices as contrary to Christian beliefs, focusing on concepts like meditation and chakras. Smith suggests these religions contribute to a spiritual environment that deviates from traditional Christian values, thus playing a role in the broader scheme of deception.

Modern occult

The modern occult, according to him, is another layer of deception, implying that contemporary occult practices, such as Satanism, which includes spirituality not aligned with orthodox Christianity, are tools used by Satan to mislead and ensnare individuals.

He sees these practices as a direct challenge to Christian doctrine and a means to dilute or corrupt genuine Christian faith.

Entertainment industry

Spencer makes the point that the entertainment industry is deeply intertwined with Eastern religions and occultism. He believes that music, movies, and other forms of entertainment often carry underlying messages and themes that are contrary to Christian teachings.

The Tree of Souls in Avatar (2009)

Says Spencer, this layer is particularly insidious because it subtly influences and shapes public opinion and beliefs, steering them away from Christian values.

False Christianity

The final layer of the upside-down pyramid, as he sees it, is false Christianity.

Hillsong Church, Australia

He reckons that certain practices and teachings within the Christian community itself do not align with biblical truth.

I noticed this when I visited Hillsong (Australia) a number of years ago. It was impressive but it felt like a show.

Furthermore, he is worried about universalism, seeing it as a deviation from traditional Christian doctrine; it’s the belief that all people will eventually be saved (or that all paths lead to God). He sees universalism as a tool used by Satan to water down the exclusivity of the Christian message.

Ultimately, the point is that we must be aware of the deceptions around us if we want to live a fulfilling, Christian life.

Here’s my conversation with Spencer.

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2 Peter 2:1 (KJV)
